We start our journey together by introducing you to this Southern city, taking a quick look at some of the finer historic buildings and sharing stories about the history of Dunedin City.
-
As we climb over the Peninsula, we stop for a photo opportunity and hear about the volcanic geology and Māori myths that speak to how this beautiful landscape was created.
-
Continuing through the pastoral farmland of the Peninsula, our guides share some details about the unique industrial heritage of the peninsula, including the historical lime kilns.
-
We check out some coastal estuaries that are highly productive ecosystems in our search for wildlife. Our guides will point out bird and marine life as we come across them, but also share sites of significance to local Māori.
-
We venture further along the Peninsula to the small settlement of Otakou, where we stop at a marae (traditional Māori meeting house) to learn more about traditional Māori life and listen to stories about Māori culture, history and mythology.
